Flica / D & The Compass: La Luna (Flica's Moonlight Remix)

Kuala Lumpur-based ambient outpost mü-nest is ringing in the new year - this time by putting out a collaborative single featuring two of their key artists. Flica, the long-running moniker of ambient producer Euseng Seto, jumps on a remix of “La Luna”, a single put out by their fellow labelmate, synth-focused solo project D & The Compass. Following the release of Seto’s previous record for the label last March, Music For Home Vol. 4: Betwixt, this track sees Flica transforming and calming the original track’s IDM-leaning twitch into a cinematic ambient composition, colored with contemplative sub-bass and resonant piano chords.

The label gives a fittingly cinematic description of the track’s visual manifestation: “Sitting down on a hill after dusk, seeing the city skylight with full moon hangs on the night sky, cars passing by from faraway street and street lights twinkling from a far distance.” With a new Flica album on the end of the horizon dropping this end-February, Seto’s calm atmospheres on this meditative remix gently opens the door for things to come.
